MVP development company for UK founders and businesses

Prove the idea before you pay to scale it: a focused first version, tested with real users, then built out. A fixed written quote after a free call.

In short

An MVP, or minimum viable product, is the smallest version of a product that real users can use, so you can test an idea before funding a full build. APPS 365 is a UK company offering product strategy and MVP development, with a fixed written quote before work starts.

What worries people before they build

The expensive mistake is rarely bad code. It is building the wrong thing, or too much of it, before anyone has tried it.

You fear spending money on the wrong product.

We start with your riskiest assumption and find the cheapest way to test it, which may not involve code at all.

The feature list keeps growing.

A simple cutting method separates what the first users need from what can wait.

You have no technical co-founder.

We explain the technical choices in plain English, then design and build the first version.

Investors keep asking for something to see.

A clickable prototype or working first version gives you something real to show, described honestly for what it is.

You worry the first version will have to be thrown away.

We agree up front which parts have to last and which can be rough, so the route to a full build is clear.

What you get from working this way

A clear view of the problem

We pin down who the product is for, what it solves and what result would make it worth building further.

A smaller first version

Only the features needed to test the idea, so you spend on learning rather than on extras.

Evidence from real users

The prototype and first version go in front of real people, so decisions rest on what they do rather than on opinion.

A build you can extend

We choose the technology with the next stage in mind, even when the first version is small.

Scope and price in writing

What is in, what is out and what it costs are all set out before work starts.

Straight advice

If the test says change direction or stop, we will say so, even though it means less work for us.

What is included

Exactly what you get is set out in your written quote. A typical project covers:

  • A discovery workshop on your users, the problem and your riskiest assumptions
  • A ranked feature list, showing what is in and out of the first version
  • A clickable prototype for early user testing
  • Design and build of the first version, on web or mobile
  • Sign-in, basic admin, analytics and payments if the test needs them
  • A test plan with real users, and a review of what you learned
  • A written view of what comes next

What an MVP is, and what it is not

An MVP is not a cheap copy of the whole product, and it is not a demo. It is the smallest thing that can answer your biggest question.

What it isWhat it tells you
PrototypeA clickable mock-up with no working system behind itWhether people understand the idea and want it
MVPA small working product that does one job for real usersWhether people will use it, come back or pay
Full productThe complete product, with the features and capacity to growHow far the idea can go

How we cut the feature list

Write down everything you would like the product to do. For each feature, ask one question: can the first users get the main result without this? If they can, it moves to the later list.

Then sort what is left by risk, and build the parts that test your biggest assumption first. Detailed reporting, extra user roles and settings screens can usually wait. Some jobs can be done by hand behind the scenes at first, so you learn what matters before paying to automate it.

How to validate an idea before you build

You can test a lot without code. Talk to people who have the problem and ask what they do about it today. Put up a simple page that explains the offer and see who responds. Walk people through a clickable prototype and watch where they get stuck.

Each step costs less than the next, and each one can change what you build. When the evidence is good enough, the first version moves on to a full build through our Web Apps & SaaS or App Development services.

What you get at each stage

  1. 1

    Free call

We talk through the idea, who it is for and what you need to find out. No obligation.

  2. 2

    Written quote

You get a fixed price, the scope and the timetable in writing before any work starts.

  3. 3

    Discovery

A workshop produces a clear problem statement, a ranked list of assumptions and a cut-down feature list.

  4. 4

    Prototype and test

You get a clickable prototype, tested with real users, and a summary of what they did and said.

  5. 5

    First version

You get a working MVP, with analytics in place so you can see how it is used.

  6. 6

    Decide what is next

You get a written view of the options: build out, change direction or stop.

Pricing guide

Each MVP is priced after a free call, with a written fixed quote before work starts. We do not publish a from price, because a prototype test and a working product with payments are very different jobs. Your quote can split the work into stages, so you can decide what comes next as you learn.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to build an MVP in the UK?

It depends on what the first version has to prove, so each MVP is priced after a free call, with a written fixed quote before work starts. The main factors are the number of features and whether it needs logins, payments or connections to other systems.

How long does MVP development take?

It depends on the scope, so the timetable is agreed in your written quote. The surest way to shorten it is to cut features, because every feature you remove is one less to design, build and test.

What features should an MVP include?

An MVP should include only the features the first users need to get the main result, plus whatever you need to measure it. Everything else goes on a later list. If you cannot explain the product's main job in one sentence, it is too early to choose features.

How do I validate my idea before building?

Start by talking to people who have the problem, then test the offer with a simple page and a clickable prototype. Look at what people do, not just what they say. Asking them to sign up or pay is a stronger signal than asking whether they like the idea.

Will the MVP scale, or will it need rebuilding?

That depends on what you agree up front, so we decide together which parts have to last and which can be simple. Some parts of a first version are often replaced later, and that is normal. We will be clear about which parts those are.

Who owns the code, and is my idea kept confidential?

Code ownership and confidentiality are agreed in writing in your quote before work starts. If you want an NDA in place before you share the detail, tell us when you book the call and keep the first conversation general until that is settled.

Do I need a technical co-founder first?

No, you do not need one to get a first version built and tested. You will want someone looking after the technology as the product grows, and support after launch can be agreed in your quote.
