IT staff augmentation for UK teams

Add developers to your own team for the work you have now: Microsoft 365, SPFx, web, mobile and AI, on terms agreed in writing before anyone starts.

In short

IT staff augmentation means adding outside developers to your own team for a period, while you keep day-to-day direction of the work. APPS 365 is a UK software company that supplies developers with Microsoft 365, SPFx, web, mobile and AI skills, priced after a free call with a written fixed quote.

When adding developers makes more sense than hiring

Permanent hiring is right for permanent work. It is less useful when the need is a peak, a project or a rare skill.

Hiring takes longer than the project can wait.

You add developers for the work in hand, without running a full recruitment round.

A peak of work has outgrown your team.

Extra capacity joins for an agreed period, then the arrangement ends on the terms you agreed, with no permanent headcount.

You need SharePoint, SPFx or AI skills nobody in-house has.

Those skills join the team where they are needed, with a handover so your own people can carry on.

You worry about losing control of the code.

Developers work in your tools and to your process, and code ownership is agreed in writing in your quote.

Why add developers this way

Your team, your direction

You set the priorities. Developers join your tools, tickets and reviews rather than working behind a wall.

Skills that are hard to hire

SPFx and SharePoint are a narrow field. All our own Microsoft 365 apps are built with SPFx, so we use these skills ourselves.

Sized to the work

Add capacity for a peak or a project, and agree at the start how the arrangement ends.

Terms in writing

Term, notice, contract basis and code ownership are agreed in your quote before anyone starts.

Knowledge stays with you

Documentation, code reviews and a handover can be built in, so the work does not leave when the developer does.

Access limited to the job

You control accounts and permissions, keep them to what the work needs and remove them at the end.

What an arrangement includes

Everything here is agreed in writing in your quote. A typical arrangement covers:

  • A written description of the skills, the work and the period you need
  • Developers working in your tools and to your process
  • An agreed start, covering access, code standards and a first task
  • Term, notice period and contract basis
  • Code ownership and confidentiality
  • A handover at the end, so the work stays with your team

Skills you can add

These are the areas we build in ourselves, so you can look at our own work in each one before you talk to us.

Staff augmentation or outsourcing?

The two get confused. The practical difference is who directs the work and who carries the delivery risk.

How adding a developer works

  1. 1

    Tell us the skills

On a free call, describe the work, your stack and what your team is missing. There is no obligation.

  2. 2

    Written quote

You get the price, who joins, the term, the notice period and the contract basis in writing.

  3. 3

    Onboarding

You set up access, share your code standards and agree a first task, so the work starts somewhere useful.

  4. 4

    Working together

The developer works in your team under your direction, with regular reviews so problems surface early.

  5. 5

    Handover and finish

When the agreed period ends or the work is done, knowledge passes to your team and access is removed.

How staff augmentation is priced

Staff augmentation is priced after a free call, with a written fixed quote before work starts. The price depends on the skills you need, how much time they are needed for and for how long. We do not publish rates, because they depend on those details.

  • Priced after a free call
  • Written fixed quote before work starts
  • Term and notice set out in the quote
  • Code ownership agreed in writing

Frequently asked questions

What is staff augmentation?

Staff augmentation means adding outside developers to your own team for a set period. You direct their work day to day, and they use your tools and processes. When the work is done, the arrangement ends on the terms you agreed at the start.

What is the difference between staff augmentation and outsourcing?

The difference is who directs the work. With staff augmentation you lead the developers and carry most of the delivery risk. With outsourcing, a supplier takes an agreed project and is responsible for delivering the outcome.

How much does staff augmentation cost in the UK?

We price it after a free call, with a written fixed quote before work starts. The figure depends on the skills, the amount of time and the length of the arrangement. When comparing options, include the recruitment and employment costs you would otherwise carry.

What about IR35?

IR35 turns on the contract and on how the work is really carried out, so it has to be looked at for each arrangement. We agree the contract basis in writing in your quote. We cannot give you tax or legal advice, so take your own if you are unsure of your position.

Where are the developers based?

That is agreed in writing in your quote, along with working hours and time zones. APPS 365 is a UK company. If location matters to you, for data, contract or time zone reasons, raise it on the free call so it is settled before anyone starts.

Who owns the code, and can we leave?

Code ownership, term and notice are all agreed in writing in your quote before anyone starts, so you know how the arrangement ends before it begins. Tell us on the call if you have a specific requirement.

How can we judge the quality of a developer?

Look at what we ship, then ask about the person. Our own apps and platforms are public, so you can try them for yourself. Who joins your team is agreed before work starts, and regular code reviews in your process will show you the rest.

Can we hire SharePoint or SPFx developers through you?

Yes. SharePoint and SPFx are a core part of what we build, because all our own Microsoft 365 apps use SPFx. Tell us what you need built or fixed, and we will say on the free call whether it is a good fit.

Tell us the skills you need

A free 30-minute call with no obligation. Describe the work and the gap in your team, and we will tell you whether we can fill it.
