UsagePoint

UsagePoint Viewed: 23

UsagePoint is a renewal decision tool for Microsoft 365 Copilot. It is a SharePoint web part that gives IT and finance the same evidence for every renewal: who uses Copilot, what idle seats cost at the price you actually pay, and how many seats to keep. Reclaim is never automatic: every action waits for approval. Usage data never leaves your tenant, and it never reads prompts or answers.

Getting started

  1. Add the app. Get UsagePoint from Microsoft Marketplace and add it to your SharePoint app catalog.
  2. Approve the permissions. An administrator approves read-only Graph permissions once. People who view usage need a reporting role such as Reports Reader.
  3. Set up the site. A site owner sets up the UsagePoint lists on a SharePoint page. Every site then gets 14 days of Pro, free, with no key.
  4. Add it to Microsoft Teams (optional). An administrator makes it available in Teams once, with Sync to Teams in the SharePoint app catalog.

Key features

  • Do this next. Home lists what to do next, most valuable first, with the money at your price.
  • Seats priced at your rate. Idle seats, seats with Copilot switched off, and people without an Exchange Online mailbox, in pounds.
  • Nudge, reclaim, reassign. Actions wait in a queue for approval, and flows in your own Power Automate give 14 days' notice first.
  • A renewal plan. The seat count to keep and the yearly difference, with chargeback by cost centre or department.
  • Adoption by department. Use by department and app over 28 days, with small groups combined and history kept on your site.
  • A summary for finance. A one-page summary to print or save as PDF, with no names.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find unused Microsoft 365 Copilot licences?

UsagePoint shows which Copilot seats are in use, prices idle seats at the price you pay, and lets you nudge, reclaim or reassign them with approval. Figures are estimates from Microsoft's usage reports.

Does UsagePoint read Copilot prompts?

No. It never reads prompts or responses, and never gives individual productivity scores or rankings. Usage data never leaves your tenant.

What does UsagePoint cost?

£995 a year up to 100 Copilot seats, £2,495 for 101 to 500 seats and £4,995 for 501 to 2,000 seats, per tenant. Above 2,000 seats, talk to us.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every site gets 14 days of Pro, free, with no key, from when a site owner sets up its lists. After that a free snapshot shows idle-seat cost, your top 5 idle seats and the renewal plan.
